Tips for Using and Optimizing Shelving
I. Selection and Layout Tips
Adjustable Height Design
Choose shelves with adjustable shelf heights to accommodate items of different sizes and maximize space utilization (e.g., place shorter items on lower shelves and group items of similar heights together).
Classification and Placement Principles
Store similar items together for quick retrieval;
Display items vertically to avoid obstructing visibility and access when stacked;
Place best-selling items near entrances/exits, heavy items on lower shelves, and lightweight items on upper shelves.
II. Display and Traffic Flow Optimization
Retail Scenario Applications
Face product fronts outward and keep shelf fronts fully stocked to enhance customer purchasing desire;
Main aisles should be at least 1.6 meters wide, and secondary aisles at least 1.2 meters wide to prevent congestion;
Related products should be displayed nearby to promote cross-selling.
Supermarket Layout Strategies
The fresh produce section should be placed at the back to extend the customer journey, with high-margin products at eye level;
The checkout area should display small items to stimulate impulse purchases.
III. Safety and Maintenance Considerations
Load-bearing and Stability
Overloading is strictly prohibited; heavy items should be placed on the bottom layer, with the top layer typically having a load capacity of ≤200 kilograms;
Avoid goods being too tall or wide (leave a safety distance of ≥10 centimeters).
Moisture Prevention and Maintenance
Elevate the bottom layer to prevent moisture, and regularly repaint to prevent rust;
Inspect for loose bolts or deformed shelves, and avoid forklift collisions.
Ⅳ. Warehouse Efficiency Improvement
Double-row back-to-back arrangement
Saves space, but use single-row arrangement in wall-adjacent areas to ensure convenient access.
Aisle Planning
Forklift aisles must allow two-way passage (≥1.5 meters) and avoid fire safety equipment.
